Blue Peter phone-in received 14,000 calls...
Summary:
14,000 calls were made to Blue Peter, that faked the competition winner as the phone lines had failed due to a tachnical erorr.the producers of the programme asked a girl who had already visited the studio to phone the programme when the competition was due to be aired with the correct answer. Therefore she was announced the competition winner. Certain members of the team stated that it was a error made by the staff and they had not fixed any of their other competitions. The BBC said the technical breakdown was due to an "unavoidable technical difficulty. It was created by our need to handle all the calls very quickly to find a winner before the end of the programme.
My view:
Basically, I think that most of these television shows where the audience get a chance to vote for theri winner are fixed and are a waste of money as we dont actually know where the money is going, or if the votes were a fix due to errors in technology as Blue peter state. This has also affected alot of other tv programmes such as the "x factor" as ITV charged voters a higher price when theyr were voting for theri winner. Other programmes which have also been suspended by using interactive services are "Im a celebrity" and "soapstar superstar".
