Cult of the celebrity...
Action point:
I consume alot of magazines such as "Hello" and "ok" which can be considered as celebrity driven media mainly to find out about the latest gossip that is happening. I also consume tabloid newspapers on a weekly basis such as the sun and reat the soft news stories to find out about the latest celebrity ongoings. Therefore i mainly consume these texts in spite of the celebrity focus, however i aslo consume these texts as a form of escapism when i have nothing else to do.
Exam question:
The sun newspaper:
  • A large image of Britney spears is presented to the reader on the front page. Therefore this gives the reader an insight of what the min story of the paper is about.
  • By the fact that this is the largest image on the tabloid newspaper sends a message out to the audience that this is the most important story in the paper.
  • This story is also part of the newspaper as it is soft news.
  • A large font is used to stand out to the reader and engaag them to read the story.
  • The main headline of the story- "Britney spears has gone bold".
  • Other soft news stories are also presented in the paper such as "daniel gets dumped by teddy".
  • Large images are mainly used of the celebrites to stand out to the reader and less detailed writing is used.

Action point:

A paparazzi photographer is a person ho follows or even stalks celebrites and takes pictures to place in different types of media such as newspapers and magazines.
